the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, and Nintendo

4 Jul

Tony and I saw so much on our European adventure, and after a week of being home were finally getting back into routine of blogging and trying to catch up on all the cool things we saw while we were away. My absolute favorite stop in Paris was the Louvre, the biggest museum I have ever witnessed. In the 5 hours we spent we only saw about a quarter of what it had to offer. Crazy!

the Mona is so little!

One thing I couldn’t help but notice was that they had booths where you could rent a 3DS and a set of headphones, and have a virtual audio tour to guide you through the museum! How cool! Not only did they have seven language choices, but the interactiveness of the touch screen makes it easy to navigate around the museum, focusing in on what you are interested in so you can make use of your time as best as possible!

interactive Venus de Milo

I think it’s an excellent idea, and Nintendo is a perfect fit for a new step towards gaming and portables having more applications past strictly for gaming. Nintendo has always been on the progressive side of things: sometimes it has worked for them, and sometimes it hasn’t.  But the easy to understand, interactive nature of their portables is a great way to help guide people, young and old, through a very complicated, all in french museum!

for only 5 euros, you can unlock the Louvre trophy and beat all the levels!

I’m really looking forward to seeing how these types of things begin to pop up in the future: as a gamer, tech nerd, and historian, this is one of the most integrated things I’ve seen, and I can’t wait for more!

Until next time!
